The Security Response Team (S.R.T.) operates in a part-time capacity. When the team members are not on a mission or training exercise, the members are assigned to regular full-time duties within Corrections Services. The team members serve at the discretion of the Deputy Chief of Corrections or designee and shall be utilized as he deems appropriate. S.R.T. members are trained to respond to a multitude of critical events such as hostage incidents, barricaded subjects, mass arrests, or disturbances.
Inmates housed at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center have access to purchase various approved items from a preset list through the Jail’s commissary provider, Tennessee Business Enterprises (TBE). Family members or friends may deposit money into an inmate’s account using cash, debit cards or credit cards at the kiosk located in the front lobby of the jail or online at www.correctpay.com. Money can also be directly deposited to an inmate’s phone account at securustech.net.
Items available for purchase include correspondence material, hygiene items, food products, and clothing items. Provisions are made for indigent inmates to receive basic necessities.
Commissary orders are open from Noon Thursday’s till 10:30 PM Saturday night and are currently delivered on Tuesdays and Wednesday.
If an inmate receives a deposit that is later flagged as a fraudulent, whether it is filed intentionally or on your behalf, the inmate could be blocked permanently from receiving future deposits. TBE reserves the right to bar inmates at any time, for any reason, without cause or explanation.
The Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center's policy on mail has changed. Personal mail and packages will NO LONGER be accepted by the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center. All personal mail sent to the facility will be returned to sender.

Incoming legal mail is delivered to inmates by staff who open the mail in front of the inmate, where they make 1 copy of each item including the envelope and destroy all originals. The mailing address for legal inmate mail is as follows:

The Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center does not permit face to face personal visits. Securus provides access to video visitation for all personal visits. Video visitation is accessible by inmates incarcerated at the facility during normal facility operations and must be scheduled ahead of time with an approved account. Friends and family are permitted to visit from a smart phone for a fee or onsite utilizing one of the Securus terminals available at no cost. Legal Visits
The facility accommodates attorneys and provides a location for which they may conduct business with their clients. Attorneys are asked to contact the Legal Visitation Desk at 423-209-7081 between the hours of 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM to set up an appointment.
Please be ready to present a BAR card when signing into the facility. During the visits, attorneys are not permitted to provide inmates with any paperwork. Any paperwork which needs to be given to the inmate must be presented to the HCSO staff member working visitation where copies will be made. The copies will be presented to the incarcerated individual.

A citation is issued to an offender as an alternative to incarceration for misdemeanor offenses. Once a citation is written the offender is given a booking date to appear. The booking process includes taking an offender's fingerprints, mug shot, and entry of the offender's information into the arrest system.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office currently processes Misdemeanor Citations Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center. Report to the front lobby Information Desk and wait for your name to be called.
